FUKUBORI — Slack Denim Coverall

Rooted in the construction of 1950s workwear, this piece gives form to the rational design thinking pursued by the store brands of that era.

The fabric is an original "SLACK DENIM" of approximately 10oz — a contemporary interpretation of the sensibility found in vintage denim. Against the natural ecru of the warp, the weft carries a subtle tonal shift, lending the cloth a depth and warmth that a single colour cannot hold.

The interpretation of the second buttonhole in particular emerged from a close reading of the original garment's structure — revealing its identity as a two-way jacket designed for wind protection. Rather than accepting received wisdom, we worked through the practical intent behind each detail one by one. The traces of history are honoured; the result is an honest garment, made to function as a tool for the present.
