Trousers rooted in the nappa-fuku that once supported Japan's railway workers.

By contemporary standards, this is an inconvenient garment — only two pockets, a waist exceeding 100cm. But leaving that inconvenience intact is precisely what revealed something new.

Fewer pockets means nothing interrupting the hip line. The high-twist twill meets the body directly — a lightness in how the cloth is felt. An oversized waist, drawn in with a cord, generates a drape and silhouette entirely its own.

Rather than adding convenience, we worked with the inconvenient structure as it was — giving form to a sense of wearing cloth that modern clothing has quietly lost. The straightforwardness of Japanese industrial dress, reconstructed without adding function. A free pair of trousers.
